Different Types of Braces

When it’s time to get braces, you’ll face a bevy of different options. How can you make the right choice so that your orthodontic experience is as enjoyable as possible?

That’s where our team here at Spillers Orthodontics can help. Whether you’re an adult looking for a solution to straighten your teeth, or a teen considering clear braces or Invisalign®, we have the answers to help you make the best choice.

Let’s look at a few of the different options you have for braces.

Metal braces
Here at Spillers Orthodontics, we don’t utilize traditional metal braces; instead, we use the revolutionary SmartClip™ self-ligating system. Self-ligating braces eliminate the need for metal and elastic ties and, instead, use a unique clip to hold the wire into the brackets. Without elastic ties that attract and collect plaque, dental hygiene is easier to maintain. In addition, because they do not use ties, self-ligating braces do not need to be “tightened” and require fewer visits to our office for adjustments. Other benefits include faster treatment times, a more discreet appearance and more comfortable care.

Invisalign
Probably the most popular option for adults, Invisalign uses a series of clear, plastic aligners that slowly move your teeth into place. Invisalign is preferable for many people because treatment time is faster, less appointments are needed and there are no brackets and wires that can break. The aligners can be removed for eating, drinking and brushing, and are clear, so most people will never know you’re straightening your smile. And Spillers Orthodontics is Middle Georgia’s only Invisalign Elite Top 1% provider, placing us in the top 1% of all Invisalign providers nationwide.

If you’re looking to straighten your smile, it’s worth it to take the time and investigate all your options. Our team can help you make the best choice for your orthodontic treatment. If you have any questions, please call our office today at 478-953-2700.
