Invisalign is a modern approach to straightening teeth. It uses a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners to gradually straighten your teeth, and has become popular with both teenagers and adults.
The Invisalign process begins with a complete 3D scan of your teeth. Dr. Spillers and Dr. Gordon then virtually move each tooth and treat your case from start to finish on the computer. Once they like your virtual smile, they instruct Invisalign to fabricate the clear aligners similar to some retainers to precisely adjust your teeth. Each aligner is worn for about a week, then is changed out for the next one in the series. The aligners gradually move your teeth into their new position over time. Your progress is carefully monitored every 10 or so weeks. This means less missed time from school and work. The whole Invisalign process typically takes from 9 to 15 months.
Many people enjoy the convenience of Invisalign. Because the aligners are removable, eating and cleaning your teeth are unaffected by your straightening treatment. However, the aligners should be in place at least 22 hours a day to be effective.
