What’s technology have to do with Orthodontics you may ask? Good question! The answer is: a lot actually.
Like the medical field, technology has revolutionized the field of orthodontics, making treatment easier, faster, more comfortable, and even more effective. This is great news for parents seeking treatment for their kids, and adults seeking treatment themselves.
Learn about the benefits of our cool, new orthodontic technology below.
-3D Imaging (X-ray) System
Cool fact: Spillers Ortho is the only orthodontic practice in middle Georgia with this 3D technology.
This X-ray system uses cone beam technology and produces images so clear and accurate, that Drs. Spillers and Gordon are able to uncover critical information that cannot be seen using 2D imaging. It’s also safer for patients, emitting up to 85% less radiation than traditional 2D X-rays.
-3D Digital Modeling
Cool fact: This amazing piece of equipment is the only one of its kind in middle Georgia.
Many orthodontic offices keep plaster models of each patient’s mouth that take up a lot of space. Our 3D Digital modeling storage allows us to store 3D models of each patient’s mouth digitally, rather than as plaster models that can be lost or broken. Now, we can bring up a patient’s 3D model at a moment’s notice. We can also share the models through email to dentists and oral surgeons if needed.
-iTero® Intraoral Scanner
Cool fact: Intraoral scanning is the wave of the future in orthodontics.
Having impressions made can be an unpleasant experience. This is why patients love our iTero Scanner, which eliminates the need for tray and putty impressions. The patient’s mouth is scanned with a radiation-free laser that renders a digitally perfect, 3D impression of the teeth and soft tissue structures. This technology delivers greater accuracy, saves time, and doesn’t taste bad. Our digital oral scanner is currently used for patients receiving Invisalign treatment, splints, and for surgery cases.
Spillers Orthodontics seeks to provide the best possible care for our patients, and when certain technology is proven to enhance patient care and increase efficiency, we want to utilize it to its fullest extent.
